NEW YORK, April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AppliedTheory Corporation
(Nasdaq: ATHY), the Internet knowledge, development and managed hosting
partner for hundreds of large corporations, today announced that it has signed
a contract with the USDA Forest Service to redesign the Web site and provide
comprehensive Web branding, development and content management programming
 services.
AppliedTheory will overhaul and re-brand the Forest Service Web site,
www.fs.fed.us, improving usability, ease of navigation and accessibility.
Once completed, the new site will help the agency comply with the Government
Paperwork Elimination Act, ADA section 508 rules for Web site accessibility
and "e-Gov" goals, enabling the site to operate in a digital government
 environment.
As part of the strategic consulting component of the contract,
AppliedTheory will train the USDA Forest Service in methods for efficiently
using the site and a new content management system, which is customized to
meet the needs of the organization. This system allows personnel to update
the site from offices around the nation, speeding the update process,
standardizing the presentation and significantly reducing maintenance costs.
The new Web site will bring a unified brand and presence to the Forest
Service. Deployment of the new site is scheduled by the end of the year.
"AppliedTheory has extensive experience developing technology solutions
for a variety of government and business clients, giving us a valuable
knowledge base to meet the needs of the USDA Forest Service," said Danny E.
Stroud, president and CEO of AppliedTheory. "We are excited to add the Forest
Service to the list of agencies that are relying on our expertise.
AppliedTheory was recently awarded a General Services Administration (GSA)
contract qualifying us to sell e-business services directly to federal
agencies, giving us even more opportunity to provide managed hosting and
 Internet services to government entities."
