AREA: ONE MUSIC FESTIVAL Summer 2001

Apr 13, 2001, 01:00 ET from V2 Records

NEW YORK, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Moby, MCT Management, and SFX are proud
to announce the creation of a new Music Festival called AREA: ONE. In the
same way that Lollapalooza redefined the notion of music festivals and opened
the door for awareness and acceptance of alternative music a decade ago, the
goal of AREA: ONE is to bring together the best in music - contemporary,
 cutting edge and electronic.
Moby explains about the festival, "My reason for putting together AREA:
ONE is that there is a lot of music in the world that I love that does not
 always get the appropriate exposure."
In addition to Moby, who will be making his only concert appearances of
the year as part of AREA: ONE, other artists confirmed include Outkast,
Incubus (East Coast Dates,) New Order (West Coast Dates,) Paul Oakenfold, Carl
Cox and The Roots. A press conference announcing the final line-up for the
AREA: ONE Festival, as well as dates, venues and other news will be held on
Monday, April 23rd at 5:00PM in New York City at Lot 61 Restaurant (550 West
21st Street; between 10th and 11th Avenue). Moby will be attending the press
 conference.
AREA: ONE will play 16 markets in North America beginning July 11th and
winding up in Los Angeles on August 5th. The tour will visit major
amphitheaters as well as some select non-traditional outdoor music venues.
AREA: ONE will include a concert stage as well as an air-conditioned tent
featuring a unique quad sound system to highlight the music being spun by the
 DJs.
A portion of the proceeds will be earmarked for local charities, which
will be announced at a later date.
AREA: ONE is a joint venture produced by Moby; his American managers Marci
Weber and Barry Taylor; Vince Bannon and SFX.
