Art for Artists' Sake PVLA Presents Art Exhibition and Sale

    PHILADELPHIA, April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for
 the Arts (PVLA) is proud to present a Juried Art Exhibition and Sale from
 May 19 through May 26 at the Philadelphia Art Alliance located on Rittenhouse
 Square at 251 South 18th Street.  The Exhibition will be open to the public
 Saturday, May 19 through Saturday, May 26, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Sunday
 from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m.).  Featured will be original works of art in a
 variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture, and crafts.
 Michael W. Schantz, Ph.D., Director and CEO of the Woodmere Art Museum, juried
 the artwork.
     On Friday, May 18, there will be an opening reception from 5:30 p.m. to
 9:30 p.m.  Tickets to the opening reception cost $50 per person.  For

     On Sunday, May 20, at 2:00 p.m. there will be a program for new and
 experienced art collectors.  This program, titled Art Collecting:  A
 Magnificent Obsession, will feature a panel of the area's leading gallery
 directors and arts professionals.  The panel members are Chris Schmidt, a
 partner at the Schmidt Dean Gallery, Sande Webster, owner of the Sande Webster
 Gallery, and Christine Filippone, Director of The Print Center.  The Moderator
 will be Marsha Moss, Public Art Curator & Consultant.  This program is free
 and open to the public.  Refreshments will be served.
     Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts is a nonprofit legal services
 organization founded in 1978 to provide pro bono legal assistance and basic
 business counseling to area artists and cultural organizations.  Over the past
 20 years, thousands of visual artists, musicians, performers and writers, as
 well as hundreds of cultural organizations have thrived because of PVLA's pro
 bono legal services, educational programs and self-help publications.
 Commissions from the art sold at this exhibition will enable PVLA to continue
 providing pro bono legal services and educational programs to artists and
 cultural organizations throughout the region.
