Astronics Seals Deal - Opens New Channel

Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Astronics Corporation

    BUFFALO, N.Y., April 11 /PRNewswire/ --
Today Astronics Corporation (Nasdaq: ATRO) announces a ten-year exclusive
global agreement with VistaPrint.com, a rapidly growing, international
internet technology firm that markets short-run, full-color printing.
Daniel Keane, President of Astronics' Printing and Packaging Group,
commented, "This is a giant step forward in our initiative to expand
Astronics' Printing and Packaging business into a spectrum of Internet
opportunities that includes web sites to market printed products. Our global
agreement with VistaPrint.com represents a strategic move to enter into the
high growth opportunities for short-run printing sold on the worldwide web and
promises to add several million dollars of sales per year."
First shipments of product for VistaPrint.com began in May of 2000 when
the Waltham, Massachusetts company launched its web site introducing sales of
short-run, full-color printing targeting small to medium-sized businesses.
Astronics' sales to VistaPrint have grown rapidly to a rate that should exceed
$3 million for 2001. Over the next ten years, annual sales to VistaPrint.com
are expected to grow far beyond this current level as VistaPrint.com taps more
of the current multi-billion dollar market for short-run, full color printing.
Astronics' Printing and Packaging segment has developed a world-class
capability for exceptionally short cycle-time and short-run production. This
capability is scalable for high order volumes through its production and
process technology that involves automated digital process flows including
 pre-press, production and order fulfillment.
Astronics Corporation is a diversified manufacturing company operating in
two business segments: Aerospace-Electronics and Printing-Packaging. Its
common stock is traded on the Nasdaq National Market System under the symbol
 ATRO.
