Auspex Enters The India Market, Naming LanBit As Local Reseller Of Its Network Attached Enterprise Storage Systems

Leading IT Solutions Provider Services Thousands of Dealers, Distributors and

System Integrators

Apr 19, 2001, 01:00 ET from Auspex Systems, Inc.

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Auspex Systems, Inc.
(Nasdaq: ASPX), a provider of enterprise data servers, today announced that it
has expanded its presence in the Asia-Pacific by entering the India market for
the first time. Auspex will be represented in India by LanBit, one of the
country's top three networking and data communications firms. LanBit will
give Auspex access to a customer base of more than 600,000, including major
enterprise users as well as more than 1,500 dealers, distributors and system
integrators that sell into all of India's vertical industries.
The expansion coincides with an escalating need for data storage in India,
particularly in the country's rapidly expanding software development and video
digitizing businesses. Storage demand is also increasing among oil and gas
companies, banking and finance institutions, Internet data centers, Internet
Service Providers, Application Service Providers and others.
LanBit has been providing its own workgroup Network Attached Storage (NAS)
products in India since 1996 and has now selected Auspex as its source for
enterprise-level storage solutions. Auspex won the privilege over competing
 vendors.
"LanBit commands a strong and diversified base of products, a vast
distribution network and a very strong and visible brand in India as well as a
solid knowledge of data storage systems, so it is an ideal partner for our
push into the market," said Gurcharan Singh, Director of Sales, South Asia,
for Auspex. "They have the customers and the resources to help us leverage
our technology advantages to quickly build a significant customer base for our
 advanced storage management solutions."
"LanBit has over 70 percent of the low-end NAS market in India. We have
identified that some of our customers will require high-end solutions," said
Manoj Kumar, Managing Director of LanBit India. "In our search for partners
who can provide us with technology in the mid- to high-end enterprise NAS
market, Auspex came across clearly as the best in the range. Auspex offers a
far superior product, and we are confident that it will fit like a glove in
 the Indian market."
Auspex file servers are used by industries and enterprises to optimize
storage management infrastructures and provide fast, reliable access to multi-
terabytes of consolidated Unix and Windows data. Designed for customers with
traditional business applications as well as corporate Internet sites,
including those with dynamic business-to-business e-commerce functions, Auspex
filers include a full suite of data management tools that ensure high
availability, high-speed backup and replication, and maximum uptime. They
also provide fast and seamless file sharing between Unix and Windows clients,
with a unique restricted file permission that prevents unauthorized users from
accessing protected Unix or Windows files across platforms.
The move into India extends Auspex's established Asia-Pacific operation
from its major bases in Singapore, Japan, Korea and China. Auspex Asia
Pacific works with clients located in major cities throughout Asia.
