    FREMONT, Calif., June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Avant! Corporation (Nasdaq:   AVNT)
 today announced that it will support the Milkyway(TM)-based,
 SinglePass-SoC(TM) design solution on Linux.  Flagship SinglePass-SoC products
 such as Jupiter(TM) design planning, Astro(TM) physical design and
 optimization, Columbia(TM) chip assembly, Design VERIFYer(R) formal
 verification, Star-RCXT(TM) extraction, Star-SimXT(TM) high-performance
 simulation, and Venus(TM) mask and physical verification have been tested on
 Red Hat 7.1 with the 2.4 kernel and will be made available on Linux.  Avant!
 will support 64-bit Linux platforms with selected products on the Intel
 Itanium processor.

 2X greater capacity, and average 10% better design timing compared to the
 industry-leading Apollo-II(TM) solution, all while maintaining compatibility
 with their existing Milkyway-based, SinglePass-SoC flows.  An important added
 benefit, internal benchmarks show substantially improved price/performance for
 SinglePass-SoC tools such as Astro on Linux-based platforms.
     With the exploding verification requirements for large SoC designs, many
 customers are creating compute farms of inexpensive, Linux-based servers to
