Aviall Announces Expansion, Relocation of Corporate Headquarters and Central Distribution Center

Apr 19, 2001, 01:00 ET from Aviall, Inc.

DALLAS, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Aviall, Inc. (NYSE: AVL) announced today
its plans to relocate its corporate headquarters and the central distribution
center for its Aviall Services business unit to an expanded new state-of-the-
art facility. Aviall will be the initial tenant in the International Commerce
Park at DFW International Airport, located in the city of Irving. Expected
completion of the building and the move are both anticipated to occur in the
 fourth quarter of 2001.
The move is a response to Aviall's sales increases in 2000 and 2001, and
its expected future growth. It should also provide significant long-term tax
advantages due to the new site's freeport status and location in DFW Foreign
Trade Zone No. 39. Some additional benefits of the new location include:
-- An increase in total square footage to 280,000 square feet.
Approximately 195,000 square feet will house Aviall Services' central
distribution facility and its Dallas product repair shops. The
remaining 85,000 square feet will consist of office space. The
facility will be home to Aviall's 340 current Dallas-based employees.
-- Consolidation of three Dallas facilities, and a more linear
distribution facility which will provide a streamlined distribution
process and even greater efficiency for Aviall's ISO-9002 certified
         distribution capabilities.
-- Closer proximity to DFW Airport-based shipping sources, which allows
Aviall Services to extend shipping times to better serve its global
         customer base.

Perot Development, which has significant experience developing on the DFW
airport property, will be the developer of the project. Aviall has been
represented by the highly regarded Staubach Company, which arranged the
transaction and will manage the building project.
Dan Komnenovich, Aviall Services' Executive Vice President and Chief
Operating Officer, stated, "The International Commerce Park is a perfect match
for Aviall. As a leading aviation solution provider, we are the first tenants
in a park focused on aviation companies. We will be located at one of the
world's premier airports, DFW, and in a city, Irving, that is highly regarded
for its economic development. As both our customers and suppliers look to
Aviall to be at the technology forefront of the aviation supply chain,
providing significant supply chain efficiencies and value, this new state-of-
the-art facility is a crucial next step to meet their needs."
Chief Executive Officer of DFW International Airport, Jeff Fegan, said,
"DFW Airport is proud to be the new home of Aviall Services. As the world's
largest independent provider of new aviation parts, Aviall's presence
continues the development of international trade within the North Texas region
and helps to expand our core business by increasing cargo volume through the
 Airport."
Dawn Massoth-McClure, senior director of economic development, Greater
Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, said, "With the location of a major
aerospace firm such as Aviall Services, along with its geographic situation
between DFW International Airport and Love Field, Irving is well positioned
within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex to take advantage of additional growth
in this industry. Our relationship with DFW International Airport and the
cities of Dallas and Fort Worth, was solidified by working together to retain
Aviall's corporate headquarters and CDC in the Metroplex with a premiere DFW
 Airport location."
