AXT Announces 1,310 nm FP Edge-Emitter Lasers for Telecom Applications

Production Quantities Available in TO-56 packages

    FREMONT, Calif., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- The VCSEL/Laser Diode
 Technologies Division of AXT, Inc. (Nasdaq:   AXTI) a leading supplier of
 standard and customized VCSEL and edge-emitter lasers for telecom and data
 communications applications, today announced volume production of 1,310 nm
 Fabry-Perot Edge-Emitter lasers designed for high data-rate telecommunication
 applications such as Gigabit Ethernet, short-reach SONET, and other optical
 transceiver and data link applications.
     The lasers are available immediately in production volumes, epi and
 processed wafers, as well as in bare die and TO-56 packaged forms, with both
 ball lens and flat window.  1,310 nm EE lasers have operating powers up to
 10mW at 85 degrees C in a stable single mode.  The packaged lasers have
 typical threshold currents of 9 mA and have slope efficiencies in excess of
 0.42 Watts/Amp.  Operating currents for the packaged part are typically 22 mA.
