SIOUX FALLS, S.D., Aug. 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- At a press conference scheduled for the last day of the 2015 season on September 13, Badlands Motor Speedway will announce its plans for the 2016 season. Announcements will include details of next season's weekly $50,000+ purse, the largest of any short track in the country.

Badlands Motor Speedway will also announce the purse for the $250,000 Rock N Roll Gold Cup, which will take place the week following the famed Knoxville Nationals August 18-21, 2016. With the top 410-sprint car drivers in the country, Badlands will award $50,000 to the winner of the Gold Cup in both the winged and non-winged discipline of sprint car racing. If a driver can win both events, an additional $25,000 bonus will be given for a potential $125,000 record setting pay day.

The Gold Cup will open on August 18, 2016 with a major concert followed by three nights of racing. The event's first night will feature the winged qualifying night followed by the non-winged qualifying night on the second night. The Gold Cup's third night will feature the championship races.

"Badlands welcomes all national sanctioning bodies to attend and participate in the Gold Cup, fly their flags high and join in on the $250,000 prize money," said CEO Chuck Brennan.

"Next year's weekly Saturday night program, consisting of 410-sprint cars, 305-sprint cars and the street stock class, will total over $35,000," said Brennan. "The winner of the 410-sprint car class will receive $5,000, doubling the winning amount this season.  The payback throughout the field is also bigger than it's ever been at the speedway, with a $700 payday to start."

The 410-sprint car purse will also add something new as a $2,000 qualifying purse has been added for 2016. The top five qualifiers will all receive prize money for their efforts with $1,000 going to the driver with the fastest lap during qualifications.

Heat race winners will be awarded gift certificates for the first time and both the 305-sprint and street stock class will be racing for a top prize of $1,000, a significant increase over the current schedule.

"I said earlier this year that next season is going to be over-the-top, and this payout for our big show on Saturday night reflects that," said Brennan. "We want key figures in racing today to run at Badlands Motor Speedway, and we're confident our new payout schedule will bring them in."

The 2016 season will bring half price Sunday night events and consist of 360-sprint cars, micro-sprint cars and Hobby Stocks. The winner of the 360-sprint car feature will receive $2,500, an unprecedented weekly payout for that sprint car class.
