BancTec Announces Innovative Outsort Pocket Option for Its S-Series(TM) Scanner

Second Output Tray Automatically Outsorts Double-Feeds and Separator Sheets

Without Affecting Scanner Throughput

Apr 30, 2001, 01:00 ET from BancTec, Inc.

NEW YORK, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- An industry-unique outsort pocket
option for the BancTec, Inc. S-Series scanner effectively streamlines
production processes and reduces labor costs. BancTec announced the solution
today at the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM)
conference here, April 30 - May 3. It can be seen in Booth #2255 with
BancTec's new S-Series Pro 180 page scanner, also announced today.
The S-Series outsort pocket option combines two significant labor-saving
modes into a single solution. They are:
-- Mode 1 (for double-fed documents) - Provides the ability to detect
double-fed documents and outsort them to a separate pocket without
stopping the autofeeder or interrupting the scanning process. The
outsorted documents can be re-fed and scanned at the end of the batch.
Alternatively, the scanner can be set to pause after a double-feed has
been outsorted to allow the operator to re-feed the documents and
         maintain the batch order.
-- Mode 2 (for separator sheets) - Provides the ability to outsort
separator sheets at scan time, eliminating the need to manually
retrieve them after each batch is scanned. Separator sheets can be
used to quickly determine whether or not all document breaks were
detected during the scanning process. Pre-numbered sheets allow the
total document count to be verified at the end of each batch. Plus,
because the sheets are not endorsed, they can be reused.

The outsort pocket option can be used with all BancTec S-Series scanner
models. Availability is scheduled for May.
"Up to this point in time, document outsorting has been a function of very
expensive solutions," said Dave Conklin, vice president of sales and marketing
for BancTec's Business Partner Solutions. "With an outsort-enabled S-Series,
users can significantly reduce pre- and post-search document preparation as
well as recover quickly from exception conditions. The key is keeping the
scanner scanning, saving you time and money."
BancTec, Inc., a worldwide systems integration, manufacturing and services
company, delivers solutions that transform complex data- and paper-intensive
