BancTec Boosts the Entry-Level Encoder Speed of Its E-Series(TM) Transport By More Than 35%

New Encoder Is Field Upgradeable to 700 Documents Per Minute

Apr 18, 2001, 01:00 ET from BancTec, Inc.

DALLAS, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- BancTec, Inc. just made its E-Series(TM)
transport more attractive for reject, remittance and return item processing
applications, announcing today a power encoder that enables its E-550
transport to print full-field code lines at a rate of 550 documents per minute
(DPM). The dual-path encoder can be upgraded in the field to 700 DPM.
The E-550 is the entry-level model of the popular E-Series transport.
Until now, only BancTec's 400 DPM full-field encoder was available for the
550 DPM transport. The new power encode option increases the encoding speed
 capability by 37.5 percent.
The 550 DPM encoder module uses BancTec's proven dual-path, high-speed
impact technology to encode E-13B and CMC-7 fonts accurately. Also, the
natural redundancy of a dual-path system provides the ability to continue
processing work at a reduced rate under certain fault conditions. The result
is greater availability and flexibility than a single-path, single-encode
 engine feature.
"The 550 encoder is an ideal solution for companies wanting a
cost-effective way to upgrade to higher-speed encoding as their processing
needs grow," said Dave Conklin, vice president of sales and marketing for
BancTec's Business Partner Solutions. "Combining greater encoding flexibility
with the release of our next-generation image technology further emphasizes
BancTec's commitment to migration path engineering. We will continue to
invest in developing new features and options for the E-Series family that
allow our customers to select the functionality that best meets their
 processing needs."
Standard features of BancTec's 550 DPM encoder include a belt-driven paper
path for positive document control, a high-speed bypass path for use when not
encoding and a read-after-encode-verification reader for real-time monitoring
of print quality. Availability is scheduled for early third quarter.
BancTec, Inc., a worldwide systems integration, manufacturing and services
company, delivers solutions that transform complex data- and paper-intensive
business processes using advanced imaging, workflow and e-business
technologies. The company is also a leading provider of maintenance services
for major computer companies, government and corporate customers. A Forbes
500 Top Private Company, BancTec employs more than 4,000 people and is
