Berman Named CEO of The Picture People

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. and FOSTER CITY, Calif., April 13 /PRNewswire/ --
 Hallmark Cards, Inc. recently announced the appointment of Lisa Berman as
 chief executive officer of The Picture People.  Berman, a former retail
 executive with the Limited, Inc. will lead the Foster City, Calif.-based
 company acquired by Hallmark in 1999.
     The Picture People currently operates 270 mall-based portrait studios in
 26 states.  The company takes an entertainment retailing approach to
 traditional portrait photography for families and children.  By focusing on
 the consumer's experience, The Picture People captures innovative portraits
 and creates quality products that are delivered the same day.
     Berman joins The Picture People at a time of rapid growth.  In 2000 the
 company opened more than 65 stores and revenues grew 29 percent.  Plans for
 2001 include opening 50 additional locations -- bringing the total to more
 than 300 stores nationwide.  As CEO, Berman will be charged with driving
 profitable revenue growth through targeted consumer marketing, developing a
 strong focus on customer service, and ensuring operational efficiency and
 consistency.
