LOS GATOS, Calif., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Identix Incorporated
(AMEX: IDX), the worldwide leader in providing biometric authentication,
security and identification solutions, today announced the addition of
Indianapolis-based Best Access Systems (BAS) as a nationwide dealer of
Identix's access control systems. BAS is a provider of security products and
services for industrial, commercial and institutional facilities, employing
more than 1700 people with sales offices across the U.S, Canada, and several
other countries. BAS will immediately begin integrating Identix V20
fingerscan readers into access control systems for its customers, which
include some of the largest corporations and institutions throughout the
United States and Canada. Through Identix's Physical Access Control Division,
over 24,000 fingerscan readers in 50 countries help secure government and
executive offices, airports, schools, banks, prisons and other organizations.
"More and more, our users are asking for the higher levels of security and
convenience that only a simple touch of a finger can provide," emphasizes
John Sullivan, BAS Director of Electronics. "Biometrics is becoming an
important component in a total access control solution. The Identix V20
readers are an easy-to-use, cost-effective enhancement for protecting
laboratories, data rooms, vaults and other areas within a facility that
 require heightened security."
Identix Vice President, Physical Access Control, Bill Spence affirms, "We
believe BAS' inclusion of our biometric physical access technology into their
line of products is a strong validation of Identix's technology, yet another
example of how biometrics is becoming a mainstream solution. Our biometric
technology provides heightened security while lowering costs. We look forward
to working with BAS to help enhance the integrity and end user-friendliness of
 their access control systems."
Utilizing a Wiegand interface, the Identix V20 reader easily integrates
into existing card systems. The reader can be used in a standalone or
networked configuration and may be configured to directly unlock a door.
Internal user memory is standard with room for 512 users and can be optionally
expanded to over 32,000 people. Enrollment in the system is fast and easy.
In an unrelated matter, Identix said that it has relocated its corporate
