BET CEO Robert Johnson Creates Company for Ownership, Operation of Washington, Las Vegas Restaurants

    WASHINGTON, April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Black Entertainment Television (BET)
 Chairman and CEO Robert L. Johnson today announced the creation of a venture
 with the principals of a Miami-based restaurant company for the ownership and
 management of two of the four restaurants previously held by BET Holdings II,
 Inc. and now owned by Johnson.  Restaurateurs Delius Shirley and Cindy Hutson
 have entered into a partnership with Johnson to own and manage new restaurants
 to be created on properties currently occupied by the BET on Jazz Supper Club,
 located on 11th street in downtown Washington; and Tres Jazz Restaurant,
 operating inside the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. BET on Jazz Supper
 Club will close immediately for renovation, with a grand re-opening in late
 summer with an exciting new look, theme and menu featuring cuisine of the sun.
     Two other restaurant properties also owned by Johnson -- BET Soundstage
 Restaurant in Largo, Maryland and BET Soundstage Nightclub on Pleasure Island
 at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida -- were not part of this
 transaction.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
