Traveling Peanut Museum

Apr 25, 2001, 01:00 ET from National Peanut Board

NEW YORK, April 24 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- The biggest
peanut in the world will set up on 62nd Street between Amsterdam and Columbus
Avenues on Wednesday morning. When the peanut becomes erect, crews can walk
inside the museum and take a virtual reality tour of the world of peanuts from
 picking to peanut butter.
The Big Peanut is part of a nation-wide effort by The March of Dimes and
the National Peanut Board to get women of childbearing years to consume the
proper amount of folic acid every day to prevent certain severe birth defects
called "neural tube defects." In addition to a daily multivitamin, peanuts
are also a good source of folic acid.
On Wednesday, April 25th, the Big Peanut will be on 62nd Street between
 Amsterdam and Columbus from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. and again on Thursday, from 6 a.m.
 - through noon.
We are also feeding a VNR on pregnancy, peanuts and folic acid on
Wednesday afternoon. The VNR contains a cut story with split audio, a nat
sound version, plus loose b-roll of the big peanut and additional bites. The
piece features a pregnant woman who made sure she had enough folic acid in her
diet before she became pregnant, a pediatrician from the March of Dimes
explaining why folic acid is important before pregnancy and also describing
the devastating results of neural tube defects.
