    MUNDELEIN, Ill., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Bio-logic Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: BLSC), a designer and marketer of
computerized medical electrodiagnostic equipment, today reported that it has
signed two contracts with Novation, the supply company of the VHA and
University Health Systems Consortium (UHC), as a dual-source supplier for
neurodiagnostic and hearing assessment systems to its 2,200 hospital and
health system members. Bio-logic's new three-year contracts with Novation
include its EEG, epilepsy monitoring, surgery monitoring and sleep study
systems as well as products for screening and diagnosis of hearing disorders.
The agreements were signed following the results of Novation's public
competitive bid process, which included input from VHA and UHC members.
"These agreements allow us to access two health care alliances with more
than $16 billion in combined annual purchases. We are looking forward to
developing our partnership with Novation by offering our state-of-the-art
electrodiagnostic products to its large membership of hospitals and health
care systems. VHA and UHC's member institutions indicated that they currently
use more of our neurological sleep systems than any other supplier and with
these agreements they can now purchase the equipment and enjoy significant
cost savings," said Roderick Johnson, president and chief operating officer of
 Bio-logic Systems.
"Having agreements with one of the health care industry's largest
centralized buying groups provides entry into an exclusive group of suppliers
delivering contracts that offer value to hospitals through cost-competitive
products and technologies. We have positioned ourselves to compete for an
increasing share of the diagnostics marketplace by developing a full range of
products that respond to several key initiatives of managed care, including
the emphasis on lower-cost, outpatient services, the drive to maximize staff
efficiency, and the optimization of computer hardware utilization," said
 Johnson.
The agreements became effective on March 1, 2001 and run through
February 29, 2004 with the option of two, one-year extensions at Novation's
 discretion.
Bio-logic is the market leader in evoked response testing systems for
audiology/otolaryngology applications and is among the leaders in digital EEG,
epilepsy monitoring, sleep study systems, and hearing systems for universal
newborn hearing screening. Because Bio-logic's products employ a modular
design providing portability, upgradeability and integrated information
management, the company gains a considerable advantage in today's cost-
sensitive managed care environment by helping physicians and hospitals seeking
cost-effective treatments and ways of eliminating unnecessary procedures and
 hospitalization.
Bio-logic Systems Corp., headquartered in Mundelein, IL, designs,
develops, assembles and markets computer-based electrodiagnostic systems for
use by hospitals, clinics, universities and physicians. The systems conduct
tests that are typically used by medical practitioners to aid in the diagnosis
of certain brain disorders and tumors, neurological and sensory disorders, and
 hearing screening.
Based in Irving, TX, Novation was established on January 1, 1998, through
the combination of the supply programs of VHA and UHC, two national health
care alliances. The largest supply cost management company in health care,
Novation manages more than $15 billion in annual purchases for more than 2,200
 VHA and UHC members.
VHA, also based in Irving, TX, is a nationwide network of more than 2,100
leading community-owned health care organizations and their physicians. It
comprises 27 percent of the nation's community hospitals. For more
information on VHA, go to www.vha.com .
UHC, based in Oak Brook, IL, is an alliance of 84 academic medical centers
