BioE Begins Pre-Clinical Study for Stem Cell Isolation

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from BioErgonomics

ST. PAUL, Minn., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- BioErgonomics (BioE), a St.
Paul-based biomedical company, has begun a multicenter study using its
patent-pending methodologies for the isolation of stem cells for
transplantation and gene therapy. BioE's cell separation technology improves
recovery of stem cells from bone marrow and umbilical cord blood by
50-100 percent more than current technology. Increased recovery of stem cells
helps ensure successful engraftment which speeds immune system recovery in
 stem cell transplants.
"This technology has the potential to directly benefit those needing to
receive stem cell transplants and gene therapy laboratories requiring large
numbers of highly purified stem cells," says Dr. Daniel Collins, BioE's CSO
 and co-founder.
BioE has been involved with the development of stem cell isolation
techniques since its inception in 1993. BioE develops, manufactures and
markets immunoassay kits, research reagents and clinical products.
