Apr 12, 2001, 01:00 ET from American Life League

ST. PAUL, Minn. and WASHINGTON, April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- "What a blessing
it is to have Bishop Welsh speaking at our international conference," said
Judie Brown, president of American Life League. The Celebration of Life World
Family Conference is scheduled June 20-24 at the Radisson Hotel South and
Plaza Tower in Bloomington, Minn. The conference is co-sponsored by Population
 Research Institute.
The Most Rev. Thomas J. Welsh, retired Bishop of Allentown, Pa., will
preside over the conference's Dedication Luncheon on Friday, June 22 at 1:30
pm. Bishop Welsh will deliver a reflection and bless the original oil painting
of Our Lady of Life, which ALL will present at the conference.
"Bishop Welsh has always been, and continues to be, fearlessly committed
to the defense of Truth and the defense of all human persons from
fertilization/conception to natural death," said Brown. "To have such an
ardent supporter of life participate in such an important way will make the
 event even more special."
Bishop Welsh was appointed as the first bishop of the Arlington, Va.,
diocese (home of American Life League) in 1974. In 1977, he founded the
diocesan Family Life Office, an organization dedicated to defending all human
life. During his years in Arlington, Bishop Welsh became a friend of ALL and
continuously showed his love of all babies.
In 1983, Bishop Welsh was appointed Bishop of Allentown, Pa. There he
continued his extraordinary fidelity to the support of all human life. He is
currently president of the board of directors of the Catholic Distance
 University.
"I invite everyone to come hear Bishop Welsh's inspiring words and
celebrate with us as we present and dedicate Our Lady of Life," Brown said.
