Bob Evans Farms Announces March Same-Store Sales Increase

    COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Evans Farms, Inc.
 (Nasdaq: BOBE) today announced that same-store sales in "core" restaurants
 (382 stores which were open for the full 12 months in both fiscal years 2000
 and 2001) for the fiscal month of March 2001 (the four weeks ended March 23)
 increased 1.7 percent from the comparable period a year ago.  Menu prices for
 the month were up approximately 2.8 percent.
     Bob Evans Farms, Inc. currently owns and operates 459 full-service, family
 restaurants principally in the East North Central, mid-Atlantic and Southern
 United States. The company is also a leading producer of food products under
