BOC Wins Oxygen Supply Contract for Milwaukee Area Hospitals

Apr 24, 2001, 01:00 ET from The BOC Group

    MURRAY HILL, N.J., April 24 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- BOC
(NYSE: BOX) recently won a five-year contract to supply liquid oxygen to the
Columbia-St. Mary's Hospital System, which operates three hospitals in the
 greater Milwaukee area.
     Columbia-St. Mary's will use BOC's TEL-TANK(TM) telemetry system to
monitor the levels of liquid oxygen on hand and schedule deliveries. The
TEL-TANK system is a state-of-the-art data acquisition package for customers
with on-site or bulk storage facilities. The TEL-TANK system feeds
information such as tank levels and usage rates to BOC's National Scheduling
Center, which uses the information to ensure that the customer's tank contents
 remain at optimum levels.
"The TEL-TANK system helps customers like Columbia-St. Mary's reduce the
risk of running out of supply -- a situation that could be very serious in a
hospital setting," said Karen Krzywicki, Marketing Manager, Medical Products,
 BOC.
"It also reduces the frequency of deliveries by taking the guesswork out
of scheduling. Deliveries are made only when the customer needs product.
This is important because many customers, like Columbia-St.Mary's, are located
in residential areas, and neighbors are concerned about noise and the
frequency of large trucks on residential streets.
"Because of our capabilities in telemetry and other areas," Krzywicki
added, "we hope to reduce the number of deliveries to Columbia-St. Mary's from
45 per year, which their previous supplier was making, to approximately 12."
The BOC Group, which serves two million customers in more than
50 countries, is one of the largest and most global of the world's leading
gases companies. It employs nearly 43,000 people and had annual sales of
nearly $5.8 billion in 2000. Further information about The BOC Group may be
