ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Elementary school students from
Newtown, Pa., San Diego and Chicago have been named the winners of the fourth
annual Borders/PARENTING Magazine "Off to School" national writing and drawing
 contest.
This year's competition was based on the book, "Arthur's Teacher Moves
In," by Marc Brown (Little, Brown & Co.). It drew approximately 10,000
entries from students across the United States. Students in pre-kindergarten
through fourth grade were invited to write or draw a story based on the theme:
"What would you do if your teacher moved in?" Author Marc Brown and PARENTING
 magazine judged the entries.
The national grand prize winner is Mary Glowacz, age 10, who attends
fourth grade at Wildwood Elementary in Chicago. The other national winners
are Faithe Thogode, age 6, who attends kindergarten at the Beth Israel Day
School in San Diego and Chris Mooney, age 8, who attends second grade at
 Newtown Elementary in Newtown, Pa.
The grand prize winner will receive an all expense paid trip to New York
City to meet Marc Brown at the opening of the Children's Museum of Manhattan's
exhibits, "Arthur's(TM) World" and "The Art of Marc Brown." The exhibits
commemorate the 25th anniversary of Arthur(TM), the star of the best-selling
children's book series and the #1 kid's TV show.
Each winner will receive a $100 Borders gift card, an Arthur birthday
party for their classmates in May and a feature story in the June/July issues
of PARENTING and FAMILY LIFE magazines. They will also be presented with a
