 Borland Software Corporation (Nasdaq: BORL), a leader in e-business
 implementation platforms, today announced the appointment of Alan Shoap to
 vice president and general manager of the enterprise business unit.  In this
 position, Mr. Shoap will be responsible for the overall expansion of Borland's
 enterprise products, including AppServer(TM), AppCenter(TM) and VisiBroker(R).
 Mr. Shoap will report to the vice president and general manager of software
 products, Frank Slootman.

     Shoap brings more than 15 years of enterprise software experience to
 Borland.  Most recently Mr. Shoap was vice president of products, iSharp
 Corporation, where he was responsible for building and expanding the critical
 functions of product and program management, and product marketing.  Shoap
 also held several product management positions at Compuware, Uniface,
 Pyramid Technology and Oracle.  He began his career with Hewlett Packard
 Laboratories in California, where he was responsible for the Systems
 Architecture and Engineering Laboratory.
