Bruins Wives' Charity Drive Awards New Harley-Davidson

Apr 05, 2001, 01:00 ET from Boston Harley-Davidson/Buell

BOSTON, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Did you hear the one about the Woburn
School System Business Manager who really knows his business when it comes to
 return on investment?
Joe Elia, 51, a Harley rider for just a year, planked down $10 bucks on a
Bruins Wives' charity raffle ticket and walked away with a brand new Harley
 FXDL Dyna Low Rider.
But listen to this: Joe now has two Harleys in the barn!
     That's right.
Joe buys a 10- dollar ticket in the Bruins Wives' Charity Carnival to help
raise funds for the Starlight Foundation and he'll take possession of his
brand new bike this Saturday night April 7 in ceremonies just after the first
period of the Bruins game, and he just bought a new Harley last year!
But he'll have to wait a couple of minuets Saturday night though to pick
up his bike -- until Boston Harley-Davidson/Buell president John Atwood, who
donated the bike, shows it off with a quick spin around the ice on specially
studded tires for the occasion. Atwood and his wife Betty Ann have helped
raise over $40,000 for the Bruins Wives' charities over the past two seasons.
Betty Ann will help present a giant sized check for $17,000, to the
charity while the bike roars around the ice.
