PALM DESERT, Calif., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD --
Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA) (CA) today announced the
 general availability of CA-Vantage 6.1, the company's market-leading
enterprise-wide storage resource management solution. The new release extends

systems and software through EMC's Open API program.
"Managing networked storage resources in a heterogeneous environment is
essential in times of explosive data growth due to eBusiness," said Dick
Gorman, senior systems administrator of Payless ShoeSource. "CA-Vantage
offers a comprehensive set of storage management functionalities for storage
planning and maintenance, including monitoring, alerting, automation,
reporting and trending, coupled with ease of deployment and administration.
We look forward to utilizing the Symmetrix integration, which will allow us to
take even further advantage of the already powerful information storage
 offering that EMC provides."
CA-Vantage delivers ease of deployment and administration coupled with
powerful capabilities that enable organizations to proactively manage their
storage requirements, analyze trends and anticipate future requirements. Its
end-to-end enterprise capabilities and common GUI-based management interface
provide centralized storage control for Windows 2000, Windows NT, Linux,
 NetWare, UNIX and mainframe platforms.
"Since deploying CA-Vantage, we have been able to reduce batch job errors
by 100 percent and also reduce our operational costs," said Kyung-Un Ko,
information systems planning and management division, Korea Exchange Bank.
"The enhancements that CA is introducing will make CA-Vantage even more
 valuable to our organization."
CA is a member of the EMC E-Infostructure Developers Program, which
provides wide-scale access to EMC APIs. By sharing its APIs with leading
application vendors such as CA, EMC helps customers take full advantage of the
leading performance, availability and management features of EMC Enterprise
Storage solutions, while eliminating costly, time-consuming application
 creation or customization.
"EMC's alliance with CA allows our mutual customers to capitalize on their
business information assets via improved storage resource management," said
Linda Wright, senior director of global alliances, EMC. "The CA-Vantage
offering furthers our work together through the EMC E-Infostructure Developers
Program and the alliance between the companies announced last December."
"Our customers' eBusiness storage needs continue to grow much faster than
their storage budgets," said Phil Treide, vice president, storage management,
