Calpine Names Paul J. Posoli Senior Vice President - Calpine Energy Services

    SAN JOSE, Calif., April 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Calpine Corporation (NYSE:  CPN),
 the nation's leading independent power company, today announced that
 Paul J. Posoli has been promoted to Senior Vice President - Calpine Energy
 Services (CES).
     "Paul has been instrumental in building Calpine Energy Services -- what we
 believe to be the premier risk management and energy trading group in the

 for Trading and Risk Management, Marketing, Fuels, and Structuring
 organizations for Calpine.
     Before coming to Calpine, Posoli was a Director with Enron Capital & Trade
 Resources, trading and marketing natural gas, electricity, and energy
 derivatives.  He also worked in mergers and acquisitions and IPP
 restructuring.
     Posoli received an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg Business
 School and worked in the audit practice at Coopers & Lybrand.
