NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- For the children of Georgia, this weekend is a time to share, celebrate, and heal. Camp Cocoon, a bereavement camp for children ages 6-17, provides these children the opportunity to step out of their cocoon, grieve the loss of a loved one, and share experiences with their peers.
The jam-packed weekend consists of various activities which focus on allowing children to have fun with friends, as well as offer opportunities to share their stories through the bereavement process. The camp kicked off the weekend with a carnival, including a dunk tank, snow cone machine, bounce houses, arts and crafts, and much more. Other weekend activities consist of a talent show, petting zoo, water games, and one of the most memorable, touching moments, the sewing of the pillows.
This activity is particularly special. Each child brings a lost loved one's t-shirt to make a pillow to remember them by. It's a priceless possession that they bring home from the weekend that the children and their families cherish.
Vice President of the PruittCares Foundation Terry Thompkins says, "We are inspired by these children every year and are privileged to be able to offer a place for them to heal during such difficult times in their lives." The PruittCares Foundation hosts Camp Cocoon every year. For more information about this camp, please visit pruittcares.org.
