Canadian Women's Ski Jumping Team Soars to New Heights

TORONTO, Jan. 22, 2014 /CNW/ - For the first time ever, women's ski jumping debuts as an Olympic sport and the Canadian women's ski jumping team will participate. Canadian team members Atsuko Tanaka, Taylor Henrich and Alexandra Pretorius will demonstrate their expertise, thanks in part to the financial support of their lead sponsor, Lesley Stowe Fine Foods Ltd.

Ski jumping is one of the oldest Olympic sports, having been introduced as one of eight sports at the first Winter Games in 1924. However, only men were allowed to compete. Prior to the 2010 Winter Games, a group of female ski jumpers began to pressure the International Olympic Committee and, in the Spring of 2011, women's ski jumping was accepted into the official Olympic program.

To motivate and inspire the team, Canadians can show their support by sharing a personalized good luck message on Lesley Stowe's official social media platforms, including Facebook (LesleyStowesRaincoastCrisps and Twitter @LesleyStowe). Lesley Stowe will contribute an additional $1 per message, to a maximum amount of $5,000.
