    BROOKLYN, N.Y., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Catholics Building Community
 (CBC) will be sponsoring a Conference on Youth and Violence, May 1st, 9:00 am
 to 2:30 pm, Bent Hall, St. John's University, 800 Utopia Parkway, Jamaica,
 Queens.
     Catholics Building Community is a coalition of Catholic parishes,
 universities, hospitals and Catholic Charities programs in Southeast Queens.
 CBC is committed to finding solutions to local problems by looking within
 themselves and their organizations for resources. The conference entitled,
 "Violence? Not In My School ...," is responding to the needs of the Catholic
 community to better understand issues of violence and how it affects youths
 and adults.
     Throughout the conference there will be various workshops, a continental
 breakfast and lunch. Topics that will be covered by the workshops are:
 
     -- Creating an atmosphere of respect
     -- Street gangs and criminal activity: the impact on our schools
     -- Making and creating networks for safe schools and communities
     -- Conflict resolution
     -- Violence in the media
     -- Bullying
 
     The conference will conclude with an address by the keynote speaker,
 Sr. MaryRose McGeady, D.C, President of Covenant House since 1990.
