NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Nashville Salutes: A Tribute to Our Nation's Most Honored Heroes announces the addition of Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) as a "$100K Medal of Honor Sponsor". Funds raised support the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's (CMOHF) Medal of Honor Character Development Program (CDP). The CDP is a set of curriculum aimed at middle and high school students teaching character traits while practicing academic skills like writing, critical thinking and analysis of complex text.

Nashville Salutes is an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Nashville and Middle Tennessee to celebrate and honor the nation's living Medal of Honor recipients for the values and character they exemplify while supporting their CDP program. Nashville Salutes will host 27 of the nation's living Medal of Honor recipients as they arrive in Nashville for events scheduled August 6-8, 2015.  Both the Governor and Nashville Mayor have declared the week of August 3-9 as Service and Sacrifice week.

CCA, America's leader in partnership corrections, announced its sponsorship of the 2015 Nashville Salutes event to honor recipients of the prestigious Medal of Honor. CCA's $100,000 gift is the highest-level of community sponsorship and reflects the company's commitment to hiring military veterans. "CCA's support for this prestigious group of individuals reflects our commitment to honoring all military veterans, within our company and beyond," said Damon Hininger, CCA President and CEO. "We are a nation of heroes and it is our privilege to support and pay tribute to this group of exceptional men and women." CCA is the nation's largest owner of partnership correction and detention facilities and one of the largest prison operators in the United States, behind only the federal government and three states. CCA currently operates 69 facilities, including 53 facilities that CCA owns or controls.
