CCC Unveils Cutting-Edge Visual Communications Center

     WHAT:     Streamers, laser light, an original digital video and
               demonstrations of the latest in imaging technology will
               highlight the April 25 grand opening of the Cuyahoga Community
               College Visual Communications Center of Excellence.  Developed
               by CCC in partnership with American Greetings Corp., the new
               facility features the most advanced collection of visual
               communications equipment in educational use between New York and
               Chicago.  Media is invited.

     The 10,000-square foot center includes computer laboratories, classrooms,
 darkrooms, digital video and photography production studios, printing and
 design facilities.
     "This new Visual Communications Center provides our students with
 experience on the very latest equipment and software that the industry has to
 offer," said CCC President Dr. Jerry Sue Thornton. "The center is the only
 educational facility in the region that can prepare students to step directly
 into jobs in such fields as Web development, multimedia, color publishing,
 digital studio photography and virtual reality imaging."
     Three 18-computer station laboratories make up the hub of the center. The
 multimedia laboratory is full-screen digital video-capable at each station.
 It also gives students the opportunity to create interactive CD-ROMs and
 sophisticated Web pages.
     A second 18-station laboratory features high-end image manipulation
 software and technology. The third lab, which focuses on publishing and page
 preparation, includes a collection of leading-edge planning and production
 technologies.
     In addition to the labs, the center features two photographic studios
 equipped with the latest digital and traditional equipment, a four-color
 digital printing system and a document management system.
