CCN Partners With National Care Network To Offer Additional Savings on Out-of-Network Claims

Includes Facility and Professional Claims in All Business Lines

Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from CCN

SAN DIEGO, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- CCN, the nation's largest PPO serving
approximately 32 million people, has selected the largest physician review
company, National Care Network (NCN) to provide out-of-network claims review
for its group health, workers' compensation and auto injury management clients
 nationwide
CCN enrollees are directed to seek care from a CCN participating provider
in order for the preferred provider rate to apply. However, there are times
when this is not possible. With the new out-of-network capability, patients
who seek care outside the CCN network can still pay less for much of their
medical care. Similarly, health care purchasers and payors realize additional
savings through agreed-upon rates with non-participating providers. NCN's non-
network claim review services will be used on both hospital and professional
 provider claims.
In addition to monetary savings, NCN's claim review services give the
claims payor the peace of mind knowing they have paid a fair price on the out-
of-network claim. NCN's process minimizes any provider appeals, balance
billing, discount repayment or legal or regulatory issues.
Mark Heinemeyer, CCN's chief sales and marketing officer, said, "The NCN
partnership enables CCN to offer a turn-key solution for clients who want to
lower their liability on out-of-network and out-of-area medical claims.
Clients tell us that approximately 10 to 25 percent of all claims received
fall into this category. With NCN's track record of successfully negotiating
eligible claims, the potential for savings is quite significant."
President of NCN Tom Galas, stated, "NCN is very excited to be able to
partner with a progressive PPO like CCN. CCN not only understands that it is
important to bring a solution to their clients for claims that fall outside of
the network; but that it is as equally important to provide a safe program
geared toward savings that is not unilateral and will not be balanced billed
 to the patient."

     About CCN
CCN is a non-risk managed care company offering workers' compensation,
group health and auto injury management programs that reduce total claims cost
? medical, indemnity and legal ? while improving health care outcomes. More
than 32 million people in all 50 states and the District of Columbia benefit
from CCN programs and services. CCN manages more than $6 billion in health
care costs annually. CCN can be found on the Internet at www.ccnusa.com.
