INDIANAPOLIS, May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Celadon Group, Inc.'s (NYSE: CGI) Celadon Trucking Services announced recently that Alcoa, a global leader in lightweight metals engineering and manufacturing, recently recognized Celadon with its esteemed Tier 1 Core Carrier Award for 2013. Celadon was one of four trucking firms to be conferred the Tier 1 designation.
Alcoa's Tier 1 Core Carrier program was created in 2005 to facilitate collaboration between Alcoa and its core carriers. Alcoa measures its carriers on tender acceptance, tender expiration, shipment volume, EDI compliance, and on-time performance.
Alcoa's Director of Global Transportation and Logistics, Ed Harmorsky, presented the award at the Alcoa's annual carrier conference and awards banquet in Knoxville, TN in in April. Attending the ceremony from Celadon to accept the award were Hunter Smith, Southeast Regional Sales Manager and Chris Chandler, Customer Relationship Manager.
