CHICAGO, Oct. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Center for Cultural Interchange (CCI), a non-profit educational exchange organization, has been designated by the U.S. Department of State to sponsor additional occupational categories in the J-1 intern/trainee program. CCI's Career Advancement Program (CAP) is now able to sponsor intern and trainee programs in arts and culture, information media and communications and will continue to offer programs in business, media, finance and commerce and hospitality/tourism.

CCI's CAP provides U.S. businesses with the opportunity to host an international university student, recent graduate or a seasoned professional for up to 18 months. These additional occupational categories allow CCI to cooperate with diverse host organizations such as theatres, orchestras, graphic design studios, media and advertising, publishing companies or PR firms.

"We are thrilled to be able to expand the Career Advancement Program to include arts and culture and information media and communications," says Melissa Hickok, CCI work programs administrative relations manager. "This opens doors for a wide array of internationally-minded American businesses looking to increase their visibility in the global marketplace."

There is no cost for a U.S. business to host an international intern or trainee just a willingness to provide a structured and guided work-based learning experience. CCI staff and overseas representatives interview participants to ensure English proficiency and proper educational and/or occupational experience. Programs range from 3-18 months in length and participant applications are accepted year-round. Participants may find their own internship/training or may select to apply for a position available through CCI.

Interested businesses should contact CCI by email, call toll-free 866-CCI-0061 or complete the  form on the website
