Centex Named Nation's No. 1 Healthcare Construction Manager

    DALLAS, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Centex Construction Group, a subsidiary
 of Dallas-based Centex Corporation (NYSE:   CTX), has been named the No. 1
 healthcare facility construction manager in the nation, according to Modern
 Healthcare magazine.
     The ranking is based on the total square footage and dollar volume of
 healthcare projects finished during calendar year 2000.  During the last year,
 Centex completed more than six million square feet of healthcare facilities
 valued at approximately $870 million.
     In addition, Centex Concord, a company affiliate based in Nashville,
 Tenn., ranks as the eighth largest developer of healthcare construction
 projects, according to Modern Healthcare.
     During 2000, approximately 23 percent of Centex's overall contracting work
 consisted of healthcare-related projects in 14 states.  Centex also builds
 facilities for a number of other industries, including hospitality, education,
 manufacturing, industrial, office, retail and government.
