Central Scholarship To Issue $5,000 MONEY® Magazine Scholarship At Annual Student Awards Luncheon

BALTIMORE, July 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Central Scholarship and MONEY® Magazine will award the final MONEY® Magazine scholarship at Central Scholarship's annual Student Awards Ceremony. Scholarship winners were selected from attendees at Central Scholarship's College Cash event in March. To be considered, students had to write an essay regarding what they learned about financial literacy as well as strategies for improving future financial literacy programs.

Central Scholarship launched their first financial literacy program in 2010 after recognizing that many of their students lacked knowledge about basic financial principals. The College Cash event was aimed at helping students to have better control of their financial situations, from paying for college, to basic budgeting, to dealing with student loan repayment.

Central Scholarship and MONEY® Magazine partnered to give four scholarship awards to attendees that wrote essays detailing their experience at the event and what they felt they need to know about financial literacy. The essays provided Central Scholarship with a great deal of information about students and what students felt they were lacking regarding financial know-how. The first scholarship winner won a $500, scholarship, the second a $1,000 scholarship, the third a $1,500 award, and the final scholarship winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship.

The final, $5,000 scholarship will be awarded at Central Scholarship's Student Awards Ceremony on July 12, 2012. The winner will be presented with a check at the event.
