Chaparral to Showcase Enterprise Messaging Solutions At Storage Networking Interoperability Demo

Apr 10, 2001, 01:00 ET from Chaparral Network Storage

LONGMONT, Colo., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Chaparral Network Storage will
join more than 50 other storage networking vendors to showcase storage
networking solutions for enterprise messaging at the Spring 2001 Storage
Networking World(R) (SNW) Conference and Expo in Palm Desert, CA from
April 9-11. Enterprise Messaging is the theme for the SNW Interoperability
Lab and Demo, a regularly featured event at the conference that is sponsored
and organized by member companies of the of the Storage Networking Industry
 Association (SNIA) Interoperability Committee.
"The SNW Interoperability Lab and Demo enables customers to view how
storage networking equipment and applications from multiple vendors can work
together in an enterprise environment," said Tom Clark, Director of Technical
Marketing for Nishan Systems and co-chair of the SNIA Interoperability
Committee. "This spring's demo will provide examples of how companies can use
storage networking technologies to cope with the demands of managing,
 archiving, and retrieving electronic messages."
Chaparral Network Storage will demonstrate the high level of
interoperability, manageability and performance of Chaparral products, which
is required to give enterprise customers peace of mind by allowing them to
deploy heterogeneous vendors in their SAN environment. Chaparral's high
performance RAID and router products will work in concert with server-free and
LAN-free backup applications to move data at optimal speed in the Scalable SAN
backup theme. Specifically, Chaparral will show:

     -- 1 Gbit/s Fibre Channel to Ultra2 SCSI (1x3) Router - model FS1310
     -- Dual ported 2 & 1 Gbit/s Fibre Channel to Ultra 160 SCSI (2x6) router
        -- model FS2620
     -- Dual ported 2 & 1 Gbit/s Fibre Channel to Ultra 160 SCSI RAID -- model
        A8526
-- Dual ported 1 Gbit/s Fibre Channel to Ultra 160 SCSI active-active RAID
        -- model G7324

The Storage Networking World interoperability demonstration is a unique
opportunity for Chaparral to be part of the SNIA-sponsored effort to
demonstrate the maturity and high level of interoperability of SAN enterprise
 solutions.
There are six sub-themes in the SNW Interoperability Demo:

-- Scalable SAN Backup: A demonstration of both LAN-free and Server-free
backup solutions that can scale from departmental to enterprise-wide
        requirements
-- Data Storage Utility/SSP: Demonstration of how to build a flexible,
scalable, and available infrastructure to deliver storage services,
either internally or through an outsourcing model
-- Education/Experts: Industry professionals explain storage networking
basics and how storage networking can benefit application needs, such
        as enterprise messaging
-- Emerging Technologies: Includes demos on storage over IP networks,
Infiniband, and Switch Interoperability. Work done by the SNIA
technical working groups will be showcased.
-- High Volume Applications: Demonstrates to IT Managers how storage
networks are used to process high volumes of data, such as streaming
        media and email
-- SAN Internetworking: Addresses the increasing need to interconnect
        geographically distributed SANs
-- Storage Network Management: Provides an overview of storage network
        management solutions

"The SNW Interoperability Demos would not be possible without the
tremendous volunteer effort by SNIA member companies," said Sheila Childs, VP
of Service Development for Storage Provider and SNIA Interoperability
Committee co-chair. "We would like to thank all the member companies who have
worked so diligently to make this an educational experience for the SNW
 attendees."
"Chaparral participation in the SNIA Interoperability Lab at SNW is
demonstration of the commitment Chaparral has to deliver interoperable
solutions to our customers," said Bob Selinger, chief technology officer,
Chaparral Network Storage. "Chaparral's on-going participation in SNIA
fosters our work and the work of member companies to develop storage
networking standards that are interoperable and open solutions."
