    MIDLAND, Mich., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Alan W. Ott, Chairman of Chemical
 Financial Corporation (Nasdaq:   CHFC), announced that today, April 16, 2001,
 the board of directors of the Company declared a quarterly cash dividend of
 $0.24 per share of common stock payable on Friday, June 15, 2001, to
 shareholders of record on June 1, 2001.  The ex-dividend date is May 30, 2001.
     Chemical Financial Corporation is a financial services holding company
 with $3.1 billion in assets headquartered in Midland, MI.  The Corporation's
 four subsidiary banks operate 118 "Chemical Bank" offices and 2 loan
