KAILUA, Hawaii, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- In December 2000, Cinesite Studios (USA) licensed RenderDotC, Film Edition renderer from Dot C Software, Inc. The film quality renderer will be used exclusively on Cinesite's new Linux renderfarm located at their Hollywood studio. Included in the deal were licenses of MaiTai, Dot C's plug-in that exports scenes from Maya to RenderDotC. Cinesite is scheduled to use RenderDotC and MaiTai in upcoming films "Ali," "Miggado," "Mothman Prophesies," "Clockstoppers" and "Windtalkers," and is building it into their production pipeline for use in all future projects. "I am excited at the prospect of working with Dot C," Dan Rosen, CTO of Cinesite said. "RenderDotC offers the look we need for film with speeds up to 3 times faster than our old renderer. Plus, new features being added continually expand our ability to produce the most realistic images available today." RenderDotC and MaiTai were developed to fill the gap for reliable, fast graphics tools used for filmmaking and broadcast productions. "With Maya and Houdini now available for Linux, RenderDotC and MaiTai complete the toolstream that users expect on PCs running NT or Linux," Rick LaMont, Chief Technology Officer of Dot C Software, Inc. stated. In 1996, RenderDotC became the first film quality renderer for Windows. Today, it is still the best. "In today's entertainment market, studios are interested in quality, speed, and reliability. RDC delivers," says Cheryl LaMont, CEO and President. "The old 'industry standards' for software and hardware really can't match the value and appeal of software targeting the PC/Linux market."
