CHICAGO, April 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Chancellor Wayne D. Watson and
the Board of Trustees today approved a public/private partnership with
divine/Whittman-Hart and Synch Solutions as the minority partner that will
restructure City Colleges of Chicago's Office of Information Technology.
divine/Whittman-Hart will administer City Colleges of Chicago's
Information Technology needs. divine/Whittman-Hart is one of the nation's
leading IT providers and brings over 17 years of experience to the City
Colleges of Chicago. "divine/Whittman-Hart will expand the current level of
core services, provide essential support services and complete key IT projects
currently underway," stated Chancellor Watson. "They evidenced a keen
understanding of the core operational and support needs of the District,"
 continued Chancellor Watson.
With over 18 offices across the nation and headquarters in Chicago,
divine/Whittman-Hart is easily accessible. In addition, they provide a strong
knowledge of the Chicago market. The divine/Whittman-Hart contract will pay
them $6.5 million dollars per year for 5 years. "We're thrilled to be named
the outsourcing technology partner for the City Colleges of Chicago, who are
delivering high quality, affordable higher education to thousands of Chicago
residents," said Edziu Szofer, president of divine/Whittman-Hart.
Synch Solutions is an advanced technical consulting and recruiting firm
that provides both project based and staffing solutions. "We work on our
clients' behalf to develop a comprehensive solution that addresses the
business requirements of the organizations," said John Sterling, CEO of Synch
Solutions. The company will be providing services in the area of Web
Development, Network Management, Midrange Support, Helpdesk Support, Emerging
 Technologies and Production Support.
The advances in technology have conditioned students to expect City
Colleges of Chicago to be able to provide Internet courses, allow them to
register on-line, have real time web based information and up-to-date distant
technology. These demands require both resources and a high skill level. To
meet that demand, City Colleges of Chicago has sought to develop a partnership
with experts who bring the technology, hardware, and software skills to keep
the City Colleges competitive and on the cutting edge.
This move will be implemented only at the District Office of the City
Colleges of Chicago and will affect 22 employees, nine of whom are union
members. Staff will be encouraged to interview with the companies for similar
 positions.
Several months ago, the Board of Trustees approved an innovative approach
to the restructuring of the Colleges' financial management by hiring American
 Express Tax Business Services, Inc.
The City Colleges of Chicago is comprised of seven separately accredited
public community colleges serving over 165,000 students in credit, non-credit
and Adult Learning Skills programs. Daley College, Malcolm X College, Olive
Harvey College, Harold Washington College, Wright College, Truman College and
Kennedy King College are the affiliated institutions. For more information
