ClearWorks Communications to Deploy Second Leg of Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) on Houston's South Side

"Company's New Fiber Optic Cable Will Make Bundled Digital Services Available

To a Market of More Than 47,000 Additional New Homes"

Apr 25, 2001, 01:00 ET from Eagle Broadband

LEAGUE CITY, Texas, April 25 /PRNewswire/ --Eagle Broadband (Amex: EAG)
announced today that its subsidiary, ClearWorks Communications, has recently
taken delivery of more than one hundred and sixty thousand feet of forty-eight
strand, single-mode optical fiber and has begun installing this fiber in the
second leg of its Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) on Houston's south side.
This expansion of the company's MAN will extend more than 18 miles south from
Highway 288 to Interstate 45, and will pass by and provide more than 47,000
homes the opportunity to access ClearWorks' Bundled Digital Services (BDS).
ClearWorks BDS services include high-quality cable style television, local and
long distance telephone, high-speed broadband Internet connectivity and
security monitoring services. Additional extensions of the Houston MAN are
 planned in the near future.
Shannon D. McLeroy, President and CEO of ClearWorks Communications, noted
that plans are already in progress to connect the company's two MAN legs to
give ClearWorks a loop around 90% of the Houston area. In the meantime,
ClearWorks' new MAN will allow the company to aggressively pursue a number of
emerging markets south of Houston where it already is providing or preparing
to initiate full BDS packages in Victory Lakes, Rodeo Palms and other new
communities. "We expect to rapidly capture a larger share of the market by
positioning ClearWorks as a single-source provider of telecommunication
services," said McLeroy. "ClearWorks offers homeowners the advantage of
receiving one itemized invoice for all their communications services rather
than multiple bills from multiple providers."
McLeroy also commented, "All current and future BDS customers will soon be
moving to a new private cable television channel lineup developed and
controlled by ClearWorks. In securing this new cable lineup, ClearWorks will
have more flexibility in the channel lineup and offer up to 75 additional
 channels."
