CMS Energy Corporation's Oil and Gas Unit Receives Hearst Technology Award

    HOUSTON, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- CMS Energy Corporation (NYSE:   CMS) today
 announced its CMS Oil and Gas Company unit received the Hearst Newspapers and
 Midland Reporter-Telegram Energy Award for Outstanding Oil and Gas Technology.
 The award was presented to CMS Oil and Gas because of the significant progress
 the company has made in horizontal drilling for natural gas in the Permian
 Basin.
     "We have been very successful in West Texas and expect this year to be
 even more active," said Brad Fischer, president and chief executive officer of
 CMS Oil and Gas Company, who accepted the award.  "We plan on drilling more
 than 100 Permian Basin wells this year, a number of which will be part of our
