Collins, McLean Elected Vice Chairman of PrivateBancorp (Nasdaq: PVTB) Unit

    CHICAGO, April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Gary S. Collins, 42, and Hugh H. McLean,
 42, were elected vice chairmen of The PrivateBank & Trust Company, a unit of
 PrivateBancorp, Inc., Chicago, effective immediately.
     Collins and McLean had been managing directors of the $874 million asset
 Chicago-based bank.

     Collins joined The PrivateBank in 1991 as one of the founding managing
 directors. He began his banking carrier in 1981 with the former Oak Park Trust
 and Savings Bank, where he became a senior vice president.  Prior to joining
 The PrivateBank he spent three years as senior vice president at First
 Colonial Bancshares.  Active in community and civic affairs he is currently
 secretary/treasurer and a member of the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association
 executive committee.  A finance graduate of DePaul University, Collins is a
 long time resident of Oak Park.  He is married and has two children.
     McLean, who manages The PrivateBank's Oak Brook office and is responsible
 for overall loan marketing for the Bank, joined The PrivateBank in 1996 as a
 managing director.  He began his banking career in 1980 with American National
 Bank & Trust Co., Chicago, where over the next 10 years he progressed to head
 one of the bank's commercial banking divisions. In 1990, he joined York State
 Bank, Elmhurst as chief operating officer, the position he held prior to
 joining The PrivateBank as head of the company's Oak Brook office. A graduate
 of Lawrence University, McLean received his MBA from the University of Chicago
 in 1986.  He is a trustee of Elmhurst College and a director of Metropolitan
 Family Services.  A resident of Elmhurst, McLean is married and has two
 children.
