COLCHESTER, Vt., April 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Competitive Computing, a leading
consultancy helping its clients compete and succeed in the connected economy,
today announced that it worked closely with the State of Vermont to develop
two valuable online systems for the Department of Economic Development, with
the goal of making it easier for Vermont businesses to market themselves using
 the Internet.
C2 developed the new online Vermont Business Registry
(http://ThinkVermont.com), which allows Vermont companies to enter their
business information into an online database. This information is then easily
available to businesses and consumers who are looking for products and
services. The new system serves Vermont businesses by giving them a new way
to reach out to their client base while serving as a single source for Vermont
 business-to-business referrals.
The new system was publicly unveiled at the Montpelier Statehouse by
Governor Howard Dean during a press conference today. "This is a great 'Buy
Vermont First' tool," said Governor Dean. "It's a terrific way to find
suppliers of products or services, and for companies to search vendors using
criteria including town, county, product or service, and much more."
C2 also developed the new online Vermont Bid Opportunities System, where
the state posts bidding opportunities for all requisitions of goods and
services that require a public bid. Companies in Vermont and beyond can
access the online system to bid on the state's open purchasing requirements
for goods and services. The new system will be expanded in the months ahead
to incorporate federal, state, municipal, and private business bids. The bid
system operates under the auspices of the Vermont Business Assistance Network.
"C2's contributions to ThinkVermont.com are a point of great pride for our
team," said Melissa Dever, vice president of engineering at Competitive
Computing. "It feels good to know we are providing tools for Vermont
businesses to derive real value from the Internet, to locate business
partners, identify new business opportunities and contribute to the Vermont
 economy."
Paul Kaza Associates, the Department of Economic Development's agency of
record, worked closely with C2 to design the graphical user interface for both
systems, which fall under the ThinkVermont.com umbrella.
