Computer Associates Unicenter TNG Streamlines IT Administration For the City of Luebeck

eBusiness Management Solution Enables German Municipality To

Manage Complex, Dispersed IT Operations

Apr 12, 2001, 01:00 ET from Computer Associates International, Inc.

    ISLANDIA, N.Y., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Computer Associates
International, Inc. (CA) today announced that the municipal government of
Luebeck, Germany, has selected CA's Unicenter TNG to manage its intricate and
dispersed IT operations with minimal overhead costs and staffing requirements.
Unicenter TNG was the only solution to meet the government's exacting
criteria for a cost-effective, highly productive system that would streamline
and centralize the administrative IT operations supporting Luebeck's 215,000
 residents.
"With the power and flexibility of Unicenter TNG, we have improved every
managerial aspect of our IT infrastructure at minimal cost," said Ursula
Kessel, head of IT customer services in the municipal government of Luebeck.
"We have increased our effectiveness significantly, without adding extra
 resources and personnel."
Unicenter TNG is being used to automate hardware and software inventory
management capabilities, enabling Luebeck to maintain a complete and
continually updated record of their entire enterprise -- regardless of where
IT devices are located. Utilizing this information, Luebeck is able to
anticipate and proactively address hardware and software replacement or
upgrade requirements before administrative operations are affected.
Unicenter TNG is also significantly improving the efficiency of Luebeck's
help desk by allowing support staff to log on and perform diagnostic tasks on
remote machines. This capability enables Luebeck technicians to rapidly
troubleshoot complex system issues without having to make costly on-site
 visits.
For additional eBusiness system administration efficiencies, Luebeck is
planning to deploy the software distribution capabilities of Unicenter TNG to
enable system and application software components to be automatically
delivered and consistently installed on all remote machines. Luebeck is also
evaluating the Unicenter TNG integrated data backup management features that
would reduce the likelihood of performance degradation or downtime in the
 event of system failure.
