Contivo(TM) Joins Major XML Players to Demonstrate ebXML Proof-of-Concept

DevCon Showcase Features Consistent XML-Based Messaging Infrastructure,

Setting the Stage to Drive the Next Generation of eBusiness Commerce

Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Contivo, Inc.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. and NEW YORK, April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Contivo, the
leader in auto-mapping for business-to-business (B2B) eCommerce, today
announced its participation in the new ebXML proof-of-concept at XML DevCon in
New York. The showcase simulates a global, electronic business-trading network
using publicly available ebXML specifications for Messaging, Trading Partner
Agreements and Registry Repository. To help build the showcase, Contivo joins
several major players in the XML industry, including BEA Systems,
Commerce One, Fujitsu, IBM, Infoteria, Killdara, Netfish/Iona, Schemantix,
Sun Microsystems, TIE Commerce and XML Global. UN/CEFACT and OASIS, sponsors
of ebXML, point to this demonstration as proof of the stability of the ebXML
specifications, all of which are now in the quality review process for final
ratification in May 2001. In concert with the new standard, Contivo and the
project's partners are poised to propel a new wave of innovation and
 opportunities for eBusiness commerce.
"ebXML represents a major step forward to the entire XML development
community," commented Indra Mohan, CEO of Contivo. "We are very pleased to
make a contribution to the proof of concept with the most valued players in
the industry. Together with the new ebXML specification, we can stimulate
greater cooperation and innovation to drive eBusiness commerce."
Attendees of XML DevCon will take a step-by-step tour of how ebXML can be
used to dynamically formulate trading partnerships through a registry service
and exchange electronic business transactions with a consistent XML-based
messaging infrastructure. The ebXML demonstration in New York will feature
actual payloads from the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG)--although
ebXML can be used to exchange any type of business transactions.
"This proof-of-concept demonstrates a tremendous groundswell of support
for the ebXML specification and opens the doors to a whole new generation of
international commerce across the 'Net," said Bill French, vice president of
product management for Contivo. "By incorporating ebXML standards, our Contivo
eService(TM) enables dynamic discovery of business process, business documents
and trading partner profiles. This will allow companies to collaboratively
establish and configure their rules of interaction in order to accelerate
 eBusiness commerce."
