REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 23 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ --
Demonstrating the company's ability to provide new revenue opportunities for
Service Providers (SPs), CoSine Communications, Inc., (Nasdaq: COSN), today
announced that Masergy Communications, Inc., has purchased the
CoSine IP Service Delivery Platform for immediate deployment in its growing
network. Masergy is an Integrated Value Services Provider (IVSP) specializing
in the intelligent delivery of business software. Based in Irving, Texas,
Masergy will utilize CoSine's IPSX 9000(TM) Service Processing Switch to
deliver application Quality of Service (QoS) using advanced network services,
including Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), managed firewalls and dial tunnel
 termination for remote access users.
"The Service Provider market is currently undergoing a significant
transformation," said Dean Hamilton, president and CEO of
CoSine Communications. "Service Providers are recognizing that simple
connectivity is no longer a viable business model. They also understand that
providing high-value applications and services is key to increased revenue
opportunities. In order to sustain profitability and maintain a competitive
advantage, Service Providers must add services such as VPNs and firewalls to
their portfolios. Masergy is the first among a new breed of IVSPs to embrace
this strategy and as a result, will have an immediate leg up on its
 competitors."
"Masergy is creating an international network built for business
software," said Barry D. Nalls, president and CEO of Masergy. "The IVSP
network platform requires the deployment of the most sophisticated technology
available to deliver unsurpassed network performance. After evaluating the
latest equipment on the market, we selected CoSine's platform because it
clearly gives us a competitive advantage in the IVSP market. We were
particularly impressed with CoSine's scalable virtual routing technology and
integrated security solutions, allowing Masergy to offer the most advanced
network applications available on the market today."
Masergy will immediately deploy CoSine's IPSX 9000 Service Processing
Switches in its major Points of Presence across the country. In addition,
Masergy will use CoSine's extensive Global Service and Support (GSS) resources
for the initial deployment, leveraging the professional services group for a
full range of consulting services, from initial planning and design to onsite
 testing and operation.

About CoSine's IP Service Delivery Platform
CoSine's solution includes its IPSX 9000 Service Processing Switch, a
carrier-class solution that marries scalable computing, switching and routing
hardware with an open architecture operating system and market-leading
application software. The platform also includes the InVision Service
Management System (SMS) and the InGage(TM) Customer Network Management (CNM)
system. This solution enables Service Providers to create, manage, and
deliver value-added IP services to enterprise customers, who in turn can
monitor and control their services over the public IP network.
CoSine's platform is designed to support network-based IP application
services such as IPSec and Multi-Protocol Label Switching VPNs; managed
Network Associates Gauntlet Firewalls; McAfee WebShield Virus Scanning; PGP
