Crayfish Co., Ltd. Announces Collaboration Agreement With Synconix Technologies Co., Ltd.

Apr 26, 2001, 01:00 ET from Crayfish Co., Ltd.

TOKYO and NEW YORK, April 26 /PRNewswire/ --
Crayfish Co., Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRFH; MOTHERS: 4747), a leading provider of e-mail
and other Internet-related services to small and medium-sized businesses in
Japan, today announced that it today entered into upon a memorandum of
understanding with Synconix Technologies ("Synconix"), a computer development
venture corporation, regarding the distribution by Crayfish of Synconix
products in Japan, the Asia-Pacific and the Oceania region. Crayfish's Board
of Directors has also approved plans to engage in future sales activity of
 Synconix products.

     Product Market
Presently, Crayfish and numerous hosting service businesses use various
small-sized and middle-sized server hardware. Required memory, disk capacity
and CPU capability differ for each server. As a result, maintenance is
time-consuming and expensive due to the necessity of loading the necessary
memory for each server. In addition, the increased use of broadband
applications is increasing the burden on servers. Utilizing technologies such
as those of Synconix reduces these problems. Synconix's server centrally
manages multiple servers and adjusts hard disks memory available for each
server. In addition, the number of CPUs loaded on each server and the
 processor speed are also adjustable.
The Company considers technologies such as Synconix's essential for
offering hosting services and Internet services in the broadband era.
Crayfish is considering targeting application service providers, broadband
contents providers, and e-commerce related service providers as
the primary market for this technology.

     Propriety Server Hardware Radial Bus(R)
Synconix' server hardware is based on the "Radial Bus(R)" (for which
Synconix holds patents in 8 countries including the USA and Japan), combined
with a cylindrical super high speed bus (a collection of wires through which
data is transmitted from one part of a computer to another) developed by
Synconix Technologies, high speed large-scale joint memory and high speed
network "S-Link". "Radical Bus(R)" makes high-speed processing and large
capacity memory loading possible by changing the originally flat-faced bus
connecting the server's memory, hard disk and CPU, to a cylindrical shape.
High-speed processing in a diversified infrastructure environment as well as
channel control functions of the content become possible through the gigabit
interface which has up to 1TByte shared memory, 128CPU scalability, and
 64 channels.
Factors making legal imitations difficult due to the simplicity of the
cylindrical shape are included in the product and patent.

     Crayfish's Business Model
Crayfish plans to receive hardware from Synconix under an OEM arrangement,
and to distribute the hardware units as well as provide installation and
maintenance support services. In addition, Crayfish plans to sell models with
Crayf!sh 2000. Crayfish believes that it is well positioned to leverage its
knowledge and know-how in entering this business area.

     Distributorship Agreement
Crayfish and Synconix Technologies are to commence negotiations, conduct
due diligence, and are aiming for the prompt execution of a distributorship
agreement. In the distributorship agreement, Crayfish is expecting to have a
priority right to the sale of a designated number of units. The distribution
arrangement contains a provision that in the event the Crayfish management
should fall under the control of Hikari Tsushin, Inc., this collaboration
 relationship will be nullified.
