GAITHERSBURG, Md., Dec. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- CustomerFirst Renewables (CFR) has named Robert M. Griffin Jr. as Vice President, Business Development effective December 6. Griffin will oversee the company's business development process and relationships with federal entities and defense contractors.
Griffin joins CFR after serving the U.S. Department of the Navy for 36 years with extensive experience in contracting, third party finance and energy management. He previously served as the Executive Director in the Department of the Navy's Renewable Energy Program Office, where he led the procurement of 1.1 gigawatts of renewable energy in less than eighteen months. Following this successful initiative, Griffin was awarded the Distinguished Civilian Service Award for recognition of his outstanding service to the Department of the Navy. The Distinguished Civilian Service Award is the highest honorary award the secretary of the Navy can present to a civilian employee. Griffin was also awarded the Presidential Rank Award by President George Bush.
Griffin previously served the Department of the Navy as the Assistant Commander for Acquisition SES, overseeing planning, design, environmental, energy and construction contracting for more than $12 billion annually at Navy and Marine Corps locations worldwide.
