NEW YORK, Aug. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Nomad Editions, a first-of-its-kind media company that produces digital weekly publications designed exclusively for mobile and tablet devices—such as the iPhone, iPad and other platforms—today announced the appointment of David Sleight, former Deputy Creative Director of BusinessWeek.com, as Chief Technology Officer.
Sleight has more than a decade of experience, bringing top-notch products to life on the Web, including a deep knowledge of user experience and the technical standards that make it tick. A long-established force in creative design for digital outlets, Sleight joins Nomad Editions to further enhance its roster of magazines, which focus on a wide variety of topics such as movies, wine, dogs, personal finance and social media.
His most recent venture is serving as principal of Stuntbox LLC, a boutique interactive design consultancy based in Brooklyn, New York. Stuntbox specializes in UX, creative direction and business strategy for companies looking to get the most out of their design resources. Prior to his work at Stuntbox, Sleight helped build Web-based textbooks at Pearson Education, and then went on to lead the Interactive Design department at BusinessWeek during one of its largest audience growth periods.
"We are excited to bring such an extraordinary talent to our company," said Mark Edmiston, CEO of Nomad Editions and former president of Newsweek. "David has long been recognized for his impressive interactive design work at BusinessWeek, as well as at Stuntbox. With his direction and creative eye, we hope to elevate Nomad Editions to the next level in engaging digital design and publishing."
Nomad Editions held its official company launch in late January 2011 and has steadily built its business since launching its seven digital publications. Most recently, the company partnered with Apple to allow readers to download the magazines directly to their iPads and iPhones. Nomad Editions has further expanded its editorial lineup in the recent months, with the launches of two new digital publications dedicated to personal finance (Sustainable Money) and dogs (Good Dog). Since the launch of its digital publications, which now total seven, Nomad Editions has seen a steady rise in subscriber growth, and is continuing to set the standard in digital publishing.
