ALEXANDRIA, Va., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Alexandria-based DDC Advocacy announced today that they will be holding a canned food drive as a way to contribute to local efforts to fight the serious problem of hunger.
As a long-term partner with client Feeding America -- national non-profit dedicated to eradicating hunger -- DDC Advocacy shares a commitment to combating the problem of hunger, which touches the lives of 1 in 6 Americans, including nearly 16.7 million children. Recently, these efforts included an innovative online campaign surrounding Hunger Action Month in September, during which DDC Advocacy helped Feeding America engage more than 5,500 voices against hunger to take part in various activities to support the cause.
The holiday season can make hunger even more acute for those in need, and so the staff at DDC Advocacy decided to get involved directly to collect donations for a D.C.-area food bank.
"We were talking about our work for Feeding America, and someone suggested we conduct our own food drive around the holidays," said Jaycee Winn, DDC Advocacy's Manager for Feeding America.
"It's such a simple thing to do, and it has such a real impact."
DDC Advocacy employees are collecting donations at the company's headquarters located at 44 Canal Center Plaza, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA. DDC Advocacy also encourages any nearby volunteers and businesses to get involved by dropping off canned food by Tuesday, December 22.
All donations will be taken to the Capital Area Food Bank ( www.capitalareafoodbank.org ) located at 645 Taylor Street NE, Washington D.C.
